Bushcon Australia

Bushcon Australia provides building safety reports for people looking to build or renovate in bushfire zones. Bushcon Australia recently engaged Harley Johnston Design to create a brand identity to help them stand out. They were clear that they wanted to avoid the clichés that other similar companies used, flames and bushfires.

Above: The Bushcon Australia logo, shown first with the primary symbol and then with variations allowing for a flexible brand identity.

The first issues I noticed was the name was not clear, Bushcon had been derived from Bushfire Consultancy, my solution was to combine the names. Once people were introduced to the company they would become Bushcon Australia, but for new comers Bushfire Consultancy Australia explains the offering. The idea for the symbol came from the overlap between the man-made – the geometric B shape – and the nature depicted by the silhouette of a gum tree.

The brand identity features a fresh yellow and imagery of natural environments.

The responsive website clearly outlines Bushcon’s offering and prompts users to get in touch for a quote.
