Pathways Cafe

Pathways Cafe is a social enterprise program set up by Metro Assist in Sydney’s inner-west. The program was a result of Marrickville council looking to address the issue of long term unemployed, especially in refugees, new migrants and indigenous people. By offering a 13 week course getting trained in hospitality skills in an orange Combi van the trainees are then helped to further their career through suppliers and local businesses.

I designed the logo, print pieces and signage to help launch the Pathways Cafe. The logo was borne out of the idea that the humble take away coffee cup can offer steps to employment and empowerment.

The Combi van has been leased for the program so the signage was designed to be temporary, using static stickers that don’t use adhesive. The existing orange van helped form the colour scheme of white and orange.

On 24th January the Pathways Cafe project was officially launched by Mayor Mark Gardiner in Steel Park, Marrickville. The event saw the organisers and public come together for the start of the program.
