Hakatamon Ramen (previously Hakata Maru Ramen) makes delicious tonkotsu ramen, the brand originally hails from Fukuoka, the home of tonkotsu ramen. The brand identity features a logo that brings together elements from the Japanese flag, ramen noodles in a bowl and waves. The design references the work of Japanese artist Mori Yūzan and his work from 1903 ‘Decoration and ornament, Themes, motives, Waves in art’. The brand is represented with strong simple typography and a colour palette of black, white and red.

Their Darling Square venue is a long store that has been hugely popular since opening. Working with the interior design team we designed a large subtle feature graphic produced by moulding concrete panels. Referencing again the work of Japanese artist Mori Yūzan and his work from 1903 ‘Decoration and ornament, Themes, motives, Waves in art’. The pattern was design to repeat allowing the five panel designs to connect across the 13 metre feature wall.

The menus are printed using white ink on thick black paper attached to a wooden backing board to in-keeping with the Japanese fit out.
